STAR Foundation is an LI non-profit 501(c)(3) volunteer organization, dedicated to the welfare of domestic and wild animals. Our goal is to provide a safe haven for every injured or orphaned Long Island animal in need of medical care, rehabilitation, or humane euthanasia, and to return as many healthy animals as possible to their natural habitat.

Wildlife Rehabilitation

Every year STAR Foundation comes to the aid of many injured, displaced and orphaned wild animals in need of help. With the training, skill and devotion of STAR's licensed volunteer rehabilitators, hundreds of animals can be successfully rescued, rehabilitated and released back into the wild.

Public Advisory Services

Every year STAR responds to thousands of wildlife questions from the public. Anyone who has a problem or question about wildlife can call us for information. An injured bird, a raccoon that has taken up residence in your chimney or a baby squirrel that might be orphaned are all issues that we can advise and assist you with.

Educational Services

STAR recognizes the importance of education in the preservation and conservation of wildlife. Before we can begin to make significant differences, people need to understand the importance of animals to our environment. We work toward increasing awareness of how the actions of people affect wildlife and what can be done to protect these animals. STAR reaches out to educate the general public on these topics through its periodic Member Updates and display booths at community fairs and events.

STAR WARS Program

STAR WARS stands for SAVE THE ANIMALS RESCUE WILD ANIMAL REHABILITATION SANCTUARY. The main objective of the program is to continue to operate a facility that is dedicated to the treatment of injured or orphaned wild animals and provide free educational programs to the general public.
